When this service can help
A drain that remains restricted after ordinary clearance may have material attached to its walls. Deposits can catch paper and other debris, causing a blockage to return. CCTV may show a narrowed bore or an uneven surface. The extent and type of deposit need to be assessed before a cleaning proposal can be made.
Common causes
Scale and hardened deposits can build up within pipework over time. Their appearance and removal requirements vary with the pipe material and what the drain carries. A restriction is not always scale: foreign objects, roots or a damaged joint can have a similar effect on flow and require a different approach.
How we solve it
CCTV inspection helps assess the visible deposits, the surrounding pipe and available access. We consider whether the host pipe is sound enough for the proposed cleaning method. Where visibility is poor, initial clearance may be needed. Any suspected structural damage should be considered before aggressive cleaning is proposed. Specialist mechanical cleaning equipment can be used where appropriate to break down suitable attached deposits, followed by removal of loosened material and a check of the result. The tools and approach are selected for the pipe and deposit. If descaling prepares a drain for lining, the required surface condition is part of that separate installation assessment.
